Video & TV

This is the video recording of the online educational event for patients on 6th March 2023, organised by ELPA and DECISION titled ‘The COMBAT-trial: A novel COMBinATorial therapy with albumin and enoxaparin in patients with decompensated cirrhosis at high-risk of poor outcome.’ Marko Korenjak, president of the European Liver Patients Association (ELPA) and Prof. Pierre-Emmanuel Rautou chaired the event.

The DECISION project just started in April 2020, but keep checking in over the next years to learn more about the project’s major results! Below is a brief video of DECISION’s scientific coordinator, Prof. Dr. Pierre-Emmanuel Rautou, explaining the project’s background, approach, and expected impact.

Prof. Dr. Paolo Caraceni, leader of the clinical trial work package of DECISION, explains the COMBAT-trial.

In this video, the project’s scientific coordinator, Prof. Pierre-Emmanuel Rautou, explains the complications that can occur in cirrhosis patients and how the DECISION project aims to better stratify patients that come to the clinic with acute decompensation (of cirrhosis). The goal is to personalise the treatment of individual patients based on tests that can predict the expected treatment outcome.

In this interview, Marko Korenjak, president of the European Liver Patients Association (ELPA), inquires about the key results of the large PREDICT study and their meaning for liver patients. Prof. Dr. Jonel Trebicka, principal investigator on the PREDICT study and Head of Translational Hepatology at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, provides answers and insights.

This video provides a voice-over of a poster summarising the aims of the DECISION project: 21 institutions collaborate in DECISION to improve the survival rate of patients suffering from cirrhosis, decompensated cirrhosis, and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF), using novel combinatorial therapies based on systems approaches.
